I interviewed at Uniqlo (New York, NY) in Nov 2012
Interview
I applied online and got a email the very next day asking me to come in for a interview the following weekend. The interview was on Sunday ( November 11, 2012) at 2pm. I went to the store about 15 minutes in advanced and then asked an associate for directions to the break room. I walked in to see I was also in the room with Uniqlo's current staff who I was guessing was waiting to punch in. After 20 mins a lady came and got all the people to be interviewed, we then walked outside and then into a hotel then into a basement which we then all took a seat. I looked around the room to see the amount of people there was. It was about 17 of us. One of the managers then talked about the company and things like that then we filled out the same online app but on a printed app. We got split into 3 groups and which 2 other managers came and helped speed the interviewing up. After everyone was interviewed once, she called some of the interviewers and then escorted them out. I guess they didn't make a good impression for the first round of interviews then we started a second round of interviews which consisted of about 7 of the 17 people. Each person was interviewed for a one on one basis with another interviewer. After we were done the same lady who escorted the first group out she escorted each person from the second group telling them if they were hired or not. It was then my turn to be escorted out which she then told me I was hired for $10/hr I accepted and she then gave me a paper to get a drug screening which had to be done withing 48 hrs. I got it done the next day and the day after that I got an email telling me to come in for orientation the following Friday (November 16,2012). My advice is to come in dressed professional. I wore black pants, black Zara shoe boots, white button up, a black tie and grey cardigan. I also advice to have a resume and when your being interviewed have GREAT eye contact and talk about giving great customer service and SMILE !!!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
There was nothing unexpected. Just the usual interviewing questions like " Give a strength and weakness" "Tell a time you gave good customer service" "What is customer service". Things like that
I got a phone call from the Talent Acquisition staff. Asked basic question about the company and availability. After the phone screening, I got a one on one interview with Store Manager.
Group interview taking turns answering given questions. Group number is 3 and you will talk to the manager and assistant manager. First you fill out a form giving available days and what hours you wish to work.
The interview took place in a hotel conference room with many other candidates. Asked us 2 super simple questions and to work in teams. Afterwards, some candidates got an interview with the HR department. They were asking each one of us the same question ( there are 2 more people with me). Overall, it wasn't the worst interview; they do not take their time to actually get to know you as a person and do not want to give you an opportunity to work part-time, because you might decide to leave to pursue your career in a year or two which I don't think is fair.
