I went through two rounds of interviews for the Senior Data Scientist position, and overall, the experience was disappointing:
Extremely slow process: The interview timeline was unnecessarily long. Each round took around three weeks to schedule, showing a lack of efficiency and respect for candidates’ time.
Superficial first round: The initial interview was very basic and mostly a resume review, with little effort to meaningfully assess skills or experience.
Poorly designed technical evaluation: The second round focused heavily on textbook-style, theoretical questions (e.g., definitions like NP-hard problems) that seemed geared toward memorization rather than evaluating real-world problem-solving, creativity, or practical data science skills. This approach felt outdated and not aligned with what the role actually requires.
Unacceptable interviewer behavior: The most concerning issue was the behavior of one interviewer, who repeatedly laughed when I could not answer certain questions. This came across as openly disrespectful and unprofessional. An interview is meant to assess candidates—not to belittle them. This was, by far, one of the most unprofessional interview experiences I have encountered.
Overall, the process felt disorganized, overly theoretical, and lacking basic professionalism. I would strongly encourage the team to rethink both their evaluation approach and interviewer conduct.
