Interview
Applied online (Questionnaire, resume, cover letter, references). Received an e-mail about a month later prompting me to call to schedule an in-person interview. This was five years ago, they added an extra video interview step before this now. If you are asked for an in-person interview, they will fly you to the recruitment base closest to your address. You meet up for the interview in a large group of ~100 people. You engage and interact with them (make sure to talk to everyone and introduce yourself) until they give you a presentation about the job. They will start calling names one by one for a 1-on1 interview. If you are selected, you move on to the next round, which is another 1-on-1 interview. If you are selected from this interview, you will wait around for a good amount of time and they will call you for a final panel interview (~3 people, including the inflight recruitment manager) and they will ask you a few of the same questions, and if they select you, will offer a training class position on the spot.

On-demand virtual interview, 1:1 virtual interview, F2F interview day w/ group activities. Nothing was tricky, but it took about 1.5 months in total. There is also a language exam for those applying to a speaker position.

Why do you want to be a flight attendant for united?
Pre recorded interview you get 2 minutes to prepare and it is a total of 8 questions. It gives you about 2 minutes to answer the questions as well and it’s important to use the STAR method.

Customer service, passport, training and flexibility
5 Step process, several stages of vetting. Application, assessment, pre-recorded interview, live virtual interview, in person interview. Hardest was in person interview. Practice STAR format. They check to make sure you pass the tattoo requirements several times throughout. Also valid passport as well as background check and DOT drug test.
