I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at United Airlines (Houston, TX) in Sep 2018
Interview
Applied online sometime around the middle of July 2018.
Received email asking me to complete a Video Interview three weeks later.
Completed and submitted VI three days later.
Received email three weeks later asking me to attend a Face to Face Interview.
Attended F2F interview two weeks later.
Received Thanks But No Thanks email one week after my f2f interview.
The entire process took two months. It took them three weeks to even look at my VI. It's a very long process for a job that doesn't pay very well.
They will tell you that they are not giving job offers on the spot, but that is not accurate. They are giving them out to some people.
I was well groomed, I looked like a flight attendant, I was wearing a suit, I am friendly and smiled and nobody in the room could have had a better resume than I did and yet still I was not hired. The only explanation that I can think of is that I am older. That is not a legal reason to disqualify someone, but I'm in my 50s and most of the forty other people who were in my face to face interview were in their mid 20s and 30s. I also did not get the "friendly" interviewer. I think who you get for your face to face interview will determine how far you go. The person who interviewed me was stiff and did not have a warm and friendly personality. He was robotic and it was evident he was tired of interviewing people. Had I gotten the friendly woman who had been in the military, my experience might have been different. She was clearly the happy person in the room and we would have clicked. Our conversation would have flowed very easily. My experience with the robot was that he just asked questions, took notes and then thanked me and showed me the door.
