I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (Eden Prairie, MN) in Nov 2018
Interview
Applied through college's career portal, interviewed on-campus a week later, then invited to an on-site interview a week after that. First on-campus interview was 30 minutes and relatively standard, although the interviewer was hard to read. On-site included a tour of the HQ campus, two 30-minute interviews, and a 30-minute Q&A with two current consultants. Questions were largely behavioral with only a 5-minute "case-style" question that wasn't too hard.
Optum seems to be looking for a certain type of person that fits their very Minnesota mold, although everyone seemed extroverted and friendly. That said, Optum's CDP seemed very third-tier and not up to the standards of well-established consulting firms and most of their projects seemed to be internal. I fail to see how such a short interview process would lead to the selection of the best consultants rather than selecting people of a similar personality type from the same group of regional schools they recruit from.
