      Associate Business Analyst Interview

      Mar 31, 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Las Vegas, NV
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at UnitedHealth Group (Las Vegas, NV) in Feb 2019

      Interview

I applied online. 4 days later I was invited to take a virtual interview. The virtual interview would have me video record answers to 5 questions. I was open to record the answers at my convenience. 2 days later, I recorded and submitted my virtual interview. The virtual interview asked 3 questions elaborating on the job description, and 2 behavioral questions. I got the call asking for an interview 9 days later. It would be a technical interview with a panel of 3 supervisors. Unfortunately, one of them was out, so I was only interviewed by two supervisors. They followed protocol, asking about my resume/experience, behavioral questions, and a skill test. My interviewers were very comfortable, they reminded me multiple times to calm down, and, since this was an entry-level position, it was ok if I didn’t know everything. Things got spicy 2 days later when I received a phone call from my future supervisor. He told me that I didn’t have quite enough experience for the posted position (“but”, I thought, “You wouldn’t be calling me if that was all you wanted to tell me.”), so they modified the position to one that would fit me better: Report Coordinator. From there, I would get my foot in the door and earn a promotion within a year. To apply for the Report Coordinator position, I needed to apply for a new posting when it came up. I submitted my application when it did a day later. From there, my resume would get fast-tracked so I wouldn’t need to interview again. First, new position needed to be posted for at least 5 days. 5 days later, an HR rep called me to go over my Report Coordinator application. The call ended with HR person saying I would be contacted within 10 business days for going over the next steps. In the meantime, he would send me an email with benefits pamphlet. One week later, I was contacted with an offer! Benefits would start the next month. I ended the phone call with a counter offer for a higher wage. I was informed that UHG usually accepts counter offers, but they, naturally, have the right to refuse. Additionally, the counter offer would need appropriate justification. 3 business days later, the offer came back at a little below what I asked for, which I happily accepted. Only one thing left at this point: the background check. During the background check, I was invited to complete bureaucratic forms, such as direct deposit, arbitration, etc. While waiting, I received calls from my future colleagues 3 times to make sure I knew where to park; define appropriate attire; orientation; and answer any questions I had. Overall, I feel I was offered the job because I had high compatibility with this position. I would use all my college experience. And I was a great culture fit.

      Interview

Still in the first steps of the hiring process. It begins with a set of online video interview questions. I received 3 questions with 1 attempt to answer each and a 3 minute max time to answer. In theory this should be easy, but I'm a nervous wreck in interviews anyway.
