I applied online. I interviewed at UpKeep Maintenance Management (Los Angeles, CA) in Dec 2020
Interview
The interview process was very disorganized and took over a month only to get rejection feedback for a seemingly frivolous and minor technicality that was not disclosed at any point prior to receiving feedback. The technical screen was an hour long pair programming exercise the scheduling of which was haphazardly thrown together at the last minute. During one of the breaks in the middle of the remote on-site interview I was informed that there would be an additional session in addition to the 4 already scheduled. UpKeep's recruiting team was also not upfront and/or misleading about where the reference check stage fit in their process. The entire experience was disorganized and unprofessional.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at UpKeep Maintenance Management in Apr 2022
Interview
Initial 30 min interview.
Take home challenge ~3 hours.
~4 hour interviews with the team.
The entire process was very transparent and respectful of my time. I came away feeling there was a passionate and intelligent team with a collaborative (and not a blame) culture that was working on the product that I would love to be a part of.
I knew old colleagues that I highly respected were part of the organization as well who spoke highly of the vision and culture. Which my interviews confirmed that opinion.
I ended up declining the offer because I had another offer in a field that I have been passionate about joining since forever. Otherwise, I would have accepted this offer.
