A recruiter reached out to me via email and set a 2 hour interview with two of the Data Scientists on their team. It seemed a little weird that the first round was already this long, but I shrugged it off and went with it. The interviews were both quite high-level, with questions on modeling and explaining past projects in great detail.
I was able to move on and was asked to complete a take-home. They gave me a week's time to finish. Take-home consisted of predicting charge-off loans. I finished this in about 5 days.
I sent them the take-home, only to hear no response for a week. I sent a follow up, and the recruiter said to give them 1-2 more weeks. Did they really need 3 weeks to review a take-home...? It sounded like their internal hiring was way behind, and honestly I doubt anyone even looked at my assignment until the very last day. So after three weeks, I get a very standard no-reply rejection. I spent so much time on the assignment that I neglected my own job, and I also patiently waited like a dog for three weeks just to get the most generic rejection. It feels terrible, I’m not going to lie.
Honestly, I had high hopes for this company. But after going through the process, I can’t really recommend this company to anyone. You can just tell internally that they are a mess, and honestly it doesn’t seem like hiring is a top priority for them, so why should it be a top priority for you to apply? Don’t waste your time like I did.
