I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Urban Outfitters (New York, NY) in Nov 2012
Interview
I applied to the Urban Outfitters on 72nd and Broadway in New York City. There were two other people being interviewed with me and we all had our interviews set up before applying. We turned in our applications an then immediately started the scheduled interview. We sat in a circle with an assistant manager. He was very nice and relaxed and it was a very casual and "chill" interview. We all just kind of chatted back in forth for about 30 minutes and it was more like chatting with new friends than an actual interview. He asked a few key questions like why we wanted to work at UO and asked which department of the store we felt most comfortable working in (cashier, women's clothing, men's clothing, accessories, etc.). He asked to just give a little overview of ourselves and the rest of the interview was mostly just the four of us laughing and sharing stories. After the interview, the three of us were given the link to the company's survey where you answer questions about loss prevention and drugs and things like that, pretty standard. He told us he would call us the next day to let us know and about 24 hours later, I was offered the position.

The interview is done in a group of about 5-10 people. A manager asks a couple of behavioral questions, and everyone goes around answering. The vibes are pretty chill, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't prepare! It just means you don't have to be nervous.
