It was very straightforward but I did do a lot of preparation for it, this included reading through all materials sent to me via VIPKID and watching hours of videos on youtube in regards to the hiring process. First there is an interview with a quick demo lesson. I was given positive feedback from the interviewer and was told to take a test in regards to company policies. That took less than a day of studying and reviewing and was quite simple if you read their policies carefully. Then I had a mock class, which was a full 25 minutes of teaching. The interviewer was amazing and put me at ease (she is a teacher herself and was pretending to act as a very shy, brand new to English student). I was very well prepared (I had props, a background, stable internet, flash cards, and I knew my material inside and out) but still missed out on a few things in my mock class. For me, the biggest issue was timing as there are 23 slides to get through in 25 minutes and I missed out the last 7 as I was very focused on getting my 'student' to speak in full sentences rather than one word answers. Luckily did not have to do a 2nd mock and was hired straight after that, but I have heard lots of teachers are required to schedule a 2nd mock class if they did not score high enough on the first mock. The feedback I got back was excellent and I will be applying it to my lessons once I start.
