I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at VIPKid (New York, NY) in Jan 2017
Interview
The application process was very easy. You put in things such as experience and your degree. They then emailed me right away asking me to schedule and interview. I suggest doing a lot of research on YouTube as it helped me tremendously to know what they were looking for. They give you the content to go over beforehand. You teach a 10 minute class to an adult acting like a 5 year old. They then give you feedback and let you know what the next step is. If you pass that, you take a quick quiz which is super easy if you read the content the give you. If you pass that, you do a mock class 15 minutes for younger students and 10 minutes for older students. Again, they give you the content to go over beforehand. If you pass that, you are hired. If you need to work on it a little more, you can do a second mock class. I only had to do the first mock class. If you have a background in teaching of any kind, you will find it easy.
Got hired as a British speaking then cancelled as not from America which I disclosed at the first interview which I think was silly and unprofessional at the time it was during covid when this happpened.
Very lenghthy interview process, but the interviewers were nice and helpful. There were several steps to the process and it was pretty involved. I had to prepare a lesson beforehand
It was easy an straightforward. 1 interview and 2 mock classes to pass. They offer a contract for a year with option to renew after 1st contract is over. Overall the process last for about 2 weeks from the time you apply unless you are waitlisted.
