      Graphic Designer Interview

      Mar 31, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Dublin, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Vagaro (Dublin, CA) in Mar 2017

      Interview

After a quick 10 minute phone interview, I was offered to come into the office immediately. I interviewed with two people from the Creative Team in person on Wednesday at 10AM, which went well. They said they would let me know an update 5 days later after they finish conducting in-person interviews. Apparently, they had 2 more people scheduled for that day after me. 4 hours after the interview, at 2PM, the founder/CEO contacts me directly via phone, which I initially miss. No voice mail of any sort is left. I call back and no one picks up. I receive a call back an hour later at 3PM that he would like to offer me the job, exclaiming that the team really liked me and that I was their top choice. He asked for my Salary Range Requirements at the end. He stated that what I was asking for was much higher than what their second choice was asking for and offered the job with the lowest end of my salary range requirements. I still expressed my interest but asked for the remainder of the day to think it through and he asked that I provide my formal response the following day via his cell phone. I called the founder/CEO as promised around 10:30AM the following morning (about 3 work hour days since our last call) to accept the offer. One ring and it goes straight to voice mail. I leave a message. I call again at 2PM to follow up, again, no pick-up. I received a HIGHLY unprofessional text at 3pm stating that he had rescinded the offer despite the agreed length of time given to make a final decision (again, this was only 3 work hours) and despite the fact that I attempted to reach him earlier in the day. This was the text: "sorry I missed your call but we had made a decision to hire someone else for the job. Maybe in the future." Both my calls were ignored in the morning. No formal e-mail or call was given. I think this is representative of their unfair structure and management. Keep this in mind when applying.

      Interview

Started with a phone screen that went well. Checked all the boxes including accepting their insultingly low salary, and being forced to commute to their office 5 days a week. I know I didn't get the job when the recruiter never contacted me again. Seems par for the course based on the employee reviews. Looks like I dodged a bullet.
