Montreal QC
Overall, I was shocked at how disorganized and unprofessional the recruitment process was. The recruiter came across as very inexperienced.
To start, my first interview was canceled last minute. When we did meet, the recruiter was wearing an unprofessional outfit (a dirty Snoopy T-shirt) on video, which did not create a great impression. On top of that, the tools and systems they used made the process frustrating:
Emails sent from Greenhouse returned “delivery failed” messages if you tried to reply.
Links to schedule interviews frequently expired.
When my interview was canceled by the senior recruiter of Montreal Valtech an hour before the meeting, I had no way to rebook through their system and ended up having to search her on LinkedIn just to reconnect.
I also flagged that the Canadian job posting was only listed in French, which could discourage English-speaking candidates. Instead of simply acknowledging this oversight, she gave excuses. The next day, the posting was quietly updated into both official languages — but without any recognition of the feedback. I value when people own mistakes instead of dismissing them.
Finally, there was no follow-up after the process ended. Mature, candidate-respectful companies usually close the loop, even with a simple rejection note.
Takeaway: If you interview here, be prepared for disorganization, poor communication tools, and a lack of respect for candidate experience.
