I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Vanguard in Dec 2013
Interview
I applied through my college's Career Development Office originally for the Vanguard Accelerated Development Program. I was contacted for phone interview but not offered a 2nd round interview. Soon after a recruiter for the Client Relationship Specialist contacted me for a phone interview. It was about an hour long, with many behavioral based interviews (review your STAR method). No technical questions, but they did ask me what a mutual fund was. At the end of the interview I was offered a final interview on site. I went to their office with about 15 other college students. There were 2 interviews - a more in-depth behavioral based interview and a was a case-based interview. The behavioral interview was pretty standard, with client-relations as the frame for most questions. I really enjoyed the case-based interview and talking to both of my interviewers. Great company, ethics, and very friendly atmosphere.
Interview was good, Interviewer provided alot of information containing to the job description and the benefits. They provided STAR example questions to get a better understanding of who I was and what I can possibly offer to the environment
Role playing situation. Simulated call between customer and you in the role. Asked about interest in role and background. What would make you succeed. Interviewer observed how you handle a phone call
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Vanguard (Charlotte, NC) in Aug 2021
Interview
The interview was a two step process, the phone screen was about 15 mins and they were mainly looking for clarity of your voice and if you are articulate. The virtual 1-on-1 interview was fairly easy, about 6 STAR-based questions regarding customer service, communication skills, and learning agility.
