I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Vanguard (Scottsdale, AZ)
Interview
First interview was with a recruiter. She asked if I knew what a stock, bond, mutual fund, index fund were. She asked me ab out basic customer service experience. They want to hear that you know how to talk with clients and build a relationship with them.
Second Interview was 6 hours long. As a large group, you learn about Vanguard, its benefits, and culture. Then you go into your first 1 on 1 interview. I couldn't even tell you what the interview questions were. It was a packet of about 6 pages front and back. Not basic interview questions that you could even look up. Just make sure to relate it back to customer service, serving the customer, and building relationships. The second 1 on 1 is a role play. I did not have any finance background so basically just do your best to walk through the client conversation and you can add things like "once I got the training I would advise the client what to do and where to put his assets". They understand you may not have any financial background so just do the best you can.
