I applied online. I interviewed at Veeva Systems in Nov 2022
Interview
first interview:
A very simple interview, Just asking a couple of basic questions like "tell me about yourself", "why consulting", "why veeva" etc. Aside from that they brief you on the process to come. I was interviewed by someone who was in the job I was applying for (very junior). They turned up wearing a grey hoodie and looked overly-casual. In hindsight this interview seemed very arbitrary and easy to pass. I do not feel it did anything to filter candidates out from moving to the 2nd interview - which is unethical, given the enormous investment required by the second interview.
The 2nd interview,
They expect fresh grads to put together a 60 minute client-ready workshop on how to use veeva vault for a particular usage case. This invovles a client-ready 10minute presentation, 40minute demonstration and 10minutes at the end for further discussion.
This involves an enormous amount of work. They say it should take 10-20 hours. This is totally dishonest. For a new grad who is 1. totally unfamiliar with document management processes, 2. totally unfamiliar with their software. This takes a very long time. There is no scope for error - if you miss out any thing mentioned off the brief it is an instant fail. I managed to pass this on my second attempt applying at the company.
Third interview.
An hour and a half long interview, With two senior consultants (one of which did interview 2). In addition to all the quesitons you would expect they asked my questions like: "what does it mean to do the right thing?", "who inspires you" and a general assortment of wide ranging questions.
They then ask you to talk through each event on your cv/resume.
At the very end they give you a 10minute presnetation about what you have to expect going forward and highlighting all the awesome things about the company. He made comments like, "you could rise all the way up to the c-suite level someday" (paraphrased).
there would have been another 2 interviews after this (a group interview, and interview with a panel from senior management).
However I was rejected because my communication style was not direct enough during this interview. It was not enough that i could put together an hour long client-ready workshop on software I have never used. I don't believe my ability to improvise answer to random questions over a 1.5 hour period is an accurate reflection of my communication style, But there ya go.
They could have had this interview before the workshop and saved me a hell of a lot of time. I also could of done without the 10minute presentation on what I had to look forward to if they weren't going to put me through.
Verdict: poorly structured interview process, with little respect for the sacrifice it demands of those applying. The company seems to be looking for the finished product, not graduates with potential. The job spec says it want people with a background in life science but this is really just an IT job - its like CRM management system.
Other Associate Consultant Interview Reviews for Veeva Systems
Relatively quick but kind of irrelevant to the job itself. Requires probing on resume over and over. A few personality test questions and then the main interview of over an hour. The veeva systems need to familiarized with before making a task happen for the exam
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Difficult situation in your job and how you overcame it
long, 6 interviews to get rejected after a personality test as the final round. The second round was a technical assessment, after which I had 4 more rounds with different people asking me pretty similar questions.
It was informal, quick and friendly, interview was around 30-45 minutes. Interview was given before the personality test. Personality test was quite exhausting, long and difficult. Replied to emails very quickly.
