I interviewed at Velir Studios (Cambridge, MA) in Sep 2021
Interview
The interview consisted of a phone conversation with the hiring manager. It ran 1/2 hour in length. The conversation was relaxed and thoughtful. I sort of knew going into it that I wasn't what they needed.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Velir Studios
Interview
Interview is conducted in a group setting with several members of the department you are applying to join. Usually one or two senior resources from the department and perhaps a department lead or director, depending on the situation. Interviews cover general skills in your field and are usually about an hour long. The tone is conversational and candidates should be prepared to speak to previous experiences that are applicable to Velir. I used a recruiter and had a phone interview scheduled, followed quickly by an in-person interview at their offices. I was contacted that evening with an offer which met my requirements, and I accepted.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I was applying for a Project Manager position and was asked what current software-related media I was familiar with--blogs, podcasts, industry-related magazines, etc. At the time I was not very tech-savy but thankfully remembered a .NET related podcast that I was able to speak about.
Very strange. The COO called me and said he was screening calls. Since when do COO's call to screen candidates? I don't think he gets it. Then I interviewed in front of a bunch of other PMs who obviously didn't know how to interview.
