      Solutions Specialist Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Verizon

      Interview

Upon submitting my first application, I was asked to complete a online assessment which consisted of situation/behavioral questions. I was contacted by a recruiter a week later by a recruiter. I scheduled a phone interview for two days later. That same day I was contacted by a different recruiter for another application I had submitted. I ended up having two phone interviews in one day. The phone interviews consisted of general questions about "why Verizon" along with questions about my background and what I thought the position entailed. Study the material you're provided and dig deeper than just looking into the basics. Figure out ways to stand out among sometimes large pools of candidates. Depending on the area you're applying for, you could be one of a few candidates, or of many candidates. I was also asked to sell two separate products (because of the two separate interviews) to tech-savy and non-tech-savy individuals. After that, I was asked behavioral-based questions by both recruiters. Focus your answers on thing *you* did not what *we* did or your organization did. On both phone interviews, I was informed that I would be contacted by General Managers to schedule face-to-face interviews. 45 minutes after my second interview, I was contacted by the GM of a nearby store. I ended up interviewing with several GM's from the area a few days later. I honestly enjoyed myself. If you're studied up, you'll be calm and excited. But if you're unprepared or under-prepared, you'll be nervous and will perform accordingly. I did an impromptu sales pitch of my phone to one of the GM's in front of the other GM's along with answering behavioral questions and questions like "why Verizon?" After the first interview, I was contacted that same day by another GM in the second location I had applied for. I scheduled that interview for a few days later. During that face-to-face, I interviewed with two GM's. Similar questions were asked, but I was asked to do an actual role-play scenario in the store which included me trying to get to know a customer and sell them the appropriate phone and accessories. During the week leading up to the second interview, I had applied for a couple more locations. Both of those applications were picked up and forwarded to recruiters and ultimately made their way to the relevant GMs because I had already conducted phone interviews. On my third face-to-face, it was an absolute slam-dunk. I nailed all the questions and scenario/behavioral-based questions. I had a really good feeling about the interview and got the impression the GM was impressed. About 30 minutes into my drive toward the fourth face-to-face interview (second one of the day), I was contacted by the GM who expressed interest in hiring me. The GM said that he was concerned that I would be offered the job elsewhere and he wanted to know if I had a preference as to where I worked. I honestly did not have a preference. I was just excited to be offered the job so I gave a verbal agreement to accept his offer. I was contacted by his district manager about an hour later to further discussion the position and discuss the logistics of how to handle multiple offers should they arise. I was informed that if I preferred a specific location like the one I had been verbally offered, I would have to decline any other offers that come first. If you apply for several positions, your offers come in chronological order, so take that into consideration when you apply. As it turns out, another hour later, I was actually contacted in reference to being offered the very first job I applied for. I declined it in order to be offered the one I had verbally agreed to. About 3 days later, I was formally offered the job. Admittedly, I was initially concerned about declining a guaranteed offer from the first job, but I was assured by the district manager that that's how the process worked if I wanted a specific location. But only decline offers if you're certain you're getting one from a preferred location. From application to phone interview, to face-to-face, to offer, it took me approximately 2-3 weeks to formally be offered the position. In retrospect, the process was extremely quick. The waiting game is never fun, but if this is something you're interested in, be patient. After the offer, I had a background check conducted which took about a week. Now I'm awaiting training in a couple weeks. Good luck in your endeavors!

Interview process was pretty straightforward. They tend to bypass a lot of the fluff and want to see how you act as a member of a team and what you are going to do when you are in a tough situation regarding numbers and meeting “quota.”
