Initially contacted by HR for phone screen after submitting online via the company website. HR informed me the process would take between 4 - 6 weeks.
I was contacted via email by a Principal Equipment Engineer to schedule a telephone interview which would include the hiring manager, which I did for one week later.
During the interview, I was informed that since the hiring manager was new to Verizon Wireless, this was why the Equipment Engineer was assisting the hiring manager. The interview consisted of behavioral questions, some of them multi-step. I found it curious that the hiring manager "had to leave for an emergency" after only two questions and answers. I completed the interview with the Equipment Engineer after about 45 minutes. He advised me that they would be in contact within one week, if they were interested in a second interview, face to face.
I was contacted to schedule the second interview with the hiring manager and the Equipment Engineer, which was to occur in one week. (3 weeks have passed since initial call from HR)
Face to face interview included the Principle Equipment Engineer, the hiring manager and the Principle Construction Engineer with whom I would be working. The second interview was also additional behavioral questions lasting about 50 minutes, and also included some general technical questions regarding equipment, RF frequencies and antennas in the last five minutes.
It was after the formal interview concluded and I was being escorted out of the office by the Principle Construction Engineer that he conversationally informed me that they were looking for someone with hands-on technical experience installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting and successful operation of all of the cell site equipment including cabling and antennas.
After six weeks had passed and I had not received any communication from Verizon Wireless, I emailed the initial HR contact regarding the status of their decision. I subsequently received a call the next day from the hiring manager who apologized for the lack of communication. He indicated that they decided to go in another direction and I was not selected. I asked him if I did not meet their needs or communicate how I meet the job requirements by my interview answers and how I presented myself - he stated the same thing the Principle Construction Engineer said after the face-to-face interview, they decided to go with someone who had more direct, hands-on equipment experience and skills.
