I applied in-person. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Verizon (Santa Clara, CA) in Sep 2015
Interview
Met hiring manager at a meet up and after emails a phone screen was setup.
The Data Scientist asked me difficult questions and then hung up on me.
I called back and told him I was trained in business management not data science.
Linking in with hiring managers is useless and they don't respond to repeated emails spaced at least 1 week apart. It is not like I am pestering them but after 6 months and exhaustive emails I get the picture they are disorganized and don't want to budget for recruiters.
Verizon might be considered a few notches above Walmart however.
Stock price has slid since 2011.
