I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Cambridge, MA) in Jul 2012
Interview
Overall the process followed what one expects at similar pharma-sector companies. Phone screen, followed by coming in for what ended up being two rounds of interviews. The second round was with the hiring manager as well as time blocks with staff, mainly scientists and other researchers, in closely associated departments as well as individuals reporting to the hiring manager. The questions were pretty standard all around, but the emphasis on taking time to get to know the person was better than average. You come away from the interview process feeling more informed about the position and the company than you do at many other places.

Question 1
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
(Standard question most places, but they integrated it better into the broader interview.)
I had a thirty minute call with a recruiter about my experiences and my career goals. The next steps would have been meeting with the team as well. The recruiter was very nice and direct.
I applied online. I interviewed at Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Providence, RI)
Interview
The interview was straight forward and simple with Hr, team members and hiring manager. The process took over a month before I heard back from the HR. Overall a good experience of interviewing with vertex.
I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Boston, MA)
Interview
Smooth and unpretentious. Took only 1.5 months between my online application and getting the offer. The interviewing scientists were mainly interested in learning how well I understood the projects and techniques on my CV, not in how familiar I was with the scientific field that the position would deal with.
