I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at VertexOne (Toronto, ON) in May 2021
Interview
Was approached for a fulltime job, then fast-tracked for an interview. When I showed up, they had ghosted me. Then, with no regard for my time, they rescheduled and did not respond further. No apology, nothing. Utterly unprofessional and disrespectful to prospective hires.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Can't say, they never showed up to their own interview.
We sincerely apologize for this experience. This is not typical or representative of the type of company that we are. We will address this to ensure this does NOT happen again to anyone. We hope that you would consider applying to future postions.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at VertexOne (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2016
Interview
Found and contacted by recruiting agency.
First Interview consisted of an in-person panel interview at the recruiting agency.
I was told by the recruiter that the interviews were being conducted downtown at the recruiting agency office instead of the company office location to accommodate the people who work downtown. I was not impressed and I don't work downtown.
When I arrived at the agency, the secretary didn't tell the recruiter that I had arrived for my interview. I waited 1 hour for my interview to start. I wanted to leave after 10 minutes of waiting. I wish I listen to my instincts. I sat in the lobby waiting with another candidate who had the 'just out of school' look who was reciting answers. After a while, another candidate who had the 'just out of school' look also came out of the interview escorted by the recruiter who saw me sitting there. The recruiter then called the reciting answers candidate to go into the interview next. After a while, the recruiter finally came out to greet me in the lobby. By this time I was was angry. I reminded the recruiter my interview time set by her and she said the interviews were running late because the other candidates were being interview longer. So they get to cut into my interview time? The recruiter eventually gave in and the truth came out that the other candidates could not answer the interviewers questions so they were spending more time with them to help them answer the questions. Who does that? Doesn't that mean the candidate is not qualified for the role if they can't answer questions?
Finally after 1 hour of waiting I was called into the interview.
The Panel Interview with Lead and Hiring Manager:
When I entered the room, the two interviewers were talking away with each other and totally ignoring me. I stood there waiting. Eventually they said hi without looking at me and shook my hand. The interviewers were very unfriendly and the hiring manager seemed angry. When I'd answer a question, the hiring manager kept correcting my answer even though my answers were correct. He said 'oh, I am just coaching you.....' Why? My answers were correct.
I was asked if I had a problem with coming back for a second interview where I would need to do a writing test.
To the recruiting agency:
I am so disgusted with your agency. So unprofessional and incompetent.
Aren't agencies supposed to screen candidates to ensure they are qualified before they are submitted to the client? Instead I found myself in the middle of getting 'friends' or 'friend of a friend' the interview which was clearly the case here.
To Vertex Business Services:
I was also interviewing you and your company doesn't met my criteria.
I can see why your company rating is a 1.5 star. Who would want to work for unfriendly angry people?
Micromanagement much?

Question 1
Why do you think you are the best candidate for this job?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at VertexOne (Toronto, ON) in Feb 2016
Interview
Personal interview mixed with technical questions, technical questions are not administered by a technical employee, yet they have a sheet they are working off of. They begin the interview with personal questions and invite you to ask questions of them, then they move into the technical side which seems to be a scripted sequence of prepared questions, and with some sort of answer they are looking for in this scripted document.
