Sales Associate (But Finally I Got An Offer of Seasonal Merchandising Assistant) Interview

      Jun 1, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Victoria's Secret (London, England) in May 2016

      Interview

The interview lasts for two hours. It started from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Overall, it is a positive and interesting experience. There are 8 interviewees (all are girls) and I am very proud of I am the only Asian candidate. It was a group interview and there are discussing and selling activities during the whole process. There are 3 interviewers but one of them talked the most. At the beginning, we’re being seated into 2 groups, 4 people per group. After we filled in the availability form, the interview started. Firstly, we have to introduced ourselves one by one. After that, there are six bras on each table for each group. We started to discuss and select out 3 of them for the best selling bras. We started to observe the characteristics of the bras and make decision in 15 minutes. Afterwards, we did a presentation of each group. After the “Best selling bras presentation”, the interviewers seperate into two groups to ask us questions. We had to answer the questions one by one. The questions were including team work, customers services, selling, scenario, problem solving and difficult feedbacks. It sounds like a test of your preparation and reaction to the situation. It was the best time for me to show my experiences, knowledge, expression and problem solving skills. Althought I didn’t answer all questions perfectly, yet it is a good time to listen and learn the skills from other candidates. The second-last part of the interview was picking up a random stationery from a bag and sell it to the interviewer in 1 to 2 minutes. I picked a box of push pins. The process was very fun and interesting because every candidate has different things to say to “a customer” (the interviewer). And it is actually very hard to sell stationery. I tried my best to say it has different colors and it is the promotion item today, something like that. Finally, it is the questions time for us to ask. They talked about how does Victoria’s Secret work, what are the duties of a sales associate, etc. They provide trainings for the successful candidates. And they said when will get back to us. It is a great experience overall. Comfortable, fun and not too tense. And everyone has the opportunity to show their skills and abilities.
