I applied online one night and did not hear back for two weeks. I was then contacted via e-mail for a phone interview a week after I received their message. The phone interview was to talk about past experiences from former jobs. I was then invited to a group interview at the VS HQ. There was a group of eight of us that was split into groups of four. They told us to be proud of the fact that we have made it that far as they had thousands of applicants. The interview started with introductions and telling the room an interesting fact about ourselves. We were then tasked with a group task where we had to create a tower out of newspaper and tape. We had five minuets to discuss what we should do and then ten minuets to create the tower, without asking the two associates taking notes on us for help. Overall, I believe that they did not care about the tower but rather how you listened to instructions and worked in a team, as well as giving positive and negative feedback to the other group. After that task we had individual questions. One associate would take notes on your answer while the other would ask the question. They would go around the group and ask us scenario questions one by one. The questions were along the lines of, what would you do in this instance, give an example of when you have done this etc etc. Each of us had around four or five questions each. Once the individual questions were over, we were sent out of the room where the employees set up the room, where they had laid out their products on two tables. On the table was a scenario such as, a customer has come into the store shopping for their sister. We were called in two by two and had to sell a product that would best match the scenario. The interview took about an hour and a half and was told that would hear from them in another two weeks as they had a full week of interviews to get through. I eventually heard back from them slightly less than two weeks later. They asked how I feel the interview went and they told be what I had done well. I was offered a position of a part-time Sales Associate. The interview was nerve wracking but an average experience. The job itself I did not enjoy and quit not long after. I felt I was constantly patronised, despite being in my twenties. There were many employees and the work place was often crowded with associates. We were given targets to accomplish each day but they did not give me the opportunity to reach them, giving me work such as greeter at the front of the store. I felt that my experience and knowledge was wasted with the jobs they gave me, often sending me to the stock room which was not apart of my job as an associate. Sales Generalists had the opportunity to work anywhere in the store, including the stock room and on the tills, Sales Associates could only work on the floor. I was no allowed on tills but they were happy to send me to the back. Overall, they made me feel like a nuisance and unneeded.
