Had a brief conversation with HR and was moved on to the next stage. The HR person was was very flexible with me having to reschedule once and the conversation was easygoing and pleasant.
The next interview was with the hiring manager. Had another great conversation that I felt was very positive and went really well. It did not feel like a typically grilling type of interview. Answered all of their questions and talked about my experience.
After that conversation is when it turned into a negative experience. I never heard anything back from anyone I spoke to at the company. Not even the generic “we’ve selected another candidate” automated rejection email.
If someone is going to take time out of their day to apply and interview with your company, as well as taking time out of your own employee’s days, the least you could do is update them on their standing.
