I interviewed at Viridien (Crawley, West Sussex, South East England, England)
Interview
Stage one was a one-way interview that lasted about 30 minutes. Emails were sent in the wrong order so I received the email with the link and a "Expires soon" message before the email with the details on how long I had and additional info, which was quite concerning. Deadline provided in email 24 hours after deadline given by interview process. Contained some competency-based questions, even though the competency-based interview is stage two so prepare for that. Each question gave 30 seconds to prepare and two minutes to answer.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We appreciate the detail. We are sorry for the confusion around the emails and timing, that’s not the standard we aim for. We’re reviewing this to ensure clearer communication going forward. Wishing you all the best moving forward. Viridien Team

Interview
First interview was to get to know you with some maths problems. all video format so be ready to talk through dealing with the maths problems and then one question about any research you have done throughout the company.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Viridien in Jul 2025
Interview
By far the best process I have had in my 30 job applications. Had been added by the technical recruitment manager (Owen Pape) shortly after applying on linkedIn. Received a video interview a little later. I thought this was going to be generic but got actual feedback, and even though I only got one of the maths questions right, they still gave me credit for having the correct logic and thinking. I was given lots of feedback at this stage. Next I had a personality quiz which formed the basis for the next interview with Owen and the other recruitment manager (Claire Bellamy), again I received more than substantial feedback. Finally, I had my technical interview where I had to do a few presentations and answer some questions around them. This interview was with two other staff from viridien. The interview lasted around 1.5 hours and I felt like I was definitely being pushed to see where my understanding was and more importantly, my approach to problem solving. I received a phone call from Owen offering the job within 45 minutes, again with so much feedback. I was fortunate to be deciding between offers at this point and was given more than enough time and put under zero pressure to make a decision. Owen even gave me an hour to talk me through the first 6 months of the program, show me some of the tools and very much wanted to make sure the job was the right fit for me, not just me for them (This had such an impact I'm still not sure I chose correctly). When I phoned Claire to tell her my decision, I have never had someone be so understanding of not taking a job. I wrote a message to Owen on LinkedIn as a thank you and to explain my decision and he even sent me some career advice and told me how to make the most out of any graduate job. I am super grateful for their patience and this is exemplary of how recruitment should be done. The kind of people I hope to remain in contact with throughout my career and I wish them nothing but the best. THIS IS HOW RECRUITMENT IS DONE.
