I reached out directly to a recruiter, and also applied via the careers page. The recruiter responded that afternoon inviting me to a 30 minute phone screen. After that I had a one hour technical screen, which was split between a coding problem and a design problem, in which I was shown a screenshot of an application and asked to describe how I would design and build the back-end components to support that page/feature. After that was the onsite round, which was five interviews spread over two days, including:
- 45 minute Coding interview
- 1 hour Domain interview*
- 1 hour Design interview
- 45 minute Experience interview (with my Hiring Manager)
- 30 minute Executive interview (with the Director for my team)
*The Domain interview I was given was actually the incorrect format. They had recently changed the format of this interview, but my interviewer was not yet aware of this. After my onsites were completed and feedback was gathered, the recruiter asked me to re-take the Domain interview, in the correct format. What I should have received initially, and then did in the re-take, was an interview similar to the second half of the Technical Screen, in which I was shown a screenshot of a feature, then discussed how to design/build that on the back-end.
Finally, after receiving feedback that the onsite rounds went well, I had a 30 minute interview with the Head of Engineering, in which we discussed what I'm looking for in my next role, my working and collaboration style, etc., as well as answering any questions I had remaining about the company and this position.
Overall I found the recruiter I worked with very responsive and helpful, and all of my interviewers friendly and professional. They were very prompt in providing feedback at every step, and scheduling the next rounds. They were also very flexible and understanding when I got covid and had to delay my onsite round (twice).
