      Business Development Leader Interview

      May 3, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Miami, FL
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Visa Inc. (Miami, FL) in Dec 2012

      Interview

Phone screening with HR followed phone and in person interviews with the business unit and stakeholders. Interviewing tends to be focused on job experience and relevant work experience, knowledge of the finance and payments industry. Tends to focus too much on people who know the industry and the drivers rather than innovative thinkers or problem solvers. This is changing, but it only exists in certain groups. Visa is not a great diversity driven company, they hire people who look, sound and think like themselves. Huge opportunity for improvement in this area. Big focus on fit in the office culture, so if there is a language or experience gap that is harder to overcome than a skills gap. Important to do your homework on the industry, Visa likes to think that payments is complicated and unique... so they like hearing that people find the industry interesting and "hard to learn".
