I have never provided feedback like this during a recruitment process, but I feel like it is needed. The process was long, unclear of the candidate they were looking for in that role, impersonal (everything felt robotic and all communications were standardized and not actually written out by a human), and I felt like my time wasn't respected as a candidate or a prospective employee.    Applied online 4-5 weeks ago, waited 2 weeks then received an email to complete an assessment (which took about 45 minutes), completed the assessment, waited another 2 weeks to hear back again from a corporate recruiter who wanted to schedule a call. She canceled the call last minute and rescheduled to the following week. When it came time to the actual phone interview, she called me 15 MINUTES LATE and didn't say anything or apologize. She was unfriendly and abrasive in her words. (They have to realize as a candidate you schedule a time to speak and you are sitting there waiting by your phone. Huge red flag of how they treat employees.) She asked me to walked through my resume and after a few minutes, I got the sense that she wasn't even listening. So I paused mid resume walk through and she started talking about something else entirely, which was a clear indicator that she wasn't paying attention. She mentioned the salary which was embarrassingly low and said that it was non-negotiable. Overall, horrible experience. This firm doesn't embody good values, professionalism or what it means to work in PE. On a side note, they have business professional attire required every day which is so unlike Austin culture. Ultimately, I have never been treated so disrespectfully in an interview process as a candidate in the numerous firms I've interviewed with across the country over the years. We should have had that discussion prior to the requirement of an assessment, and prior to me clearing two separate afternoons and then receiving a call 15 minutes late. I would not recommend even bothering with this firm - it lacks a sense of culture and identity.
