I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Visual Concepts (Novato, CA) (Novato, CA)
Interview
It was a swift process. After the initial screening call with the recruiter, we proceeded to a take home test which was followed by an on-site interview (these were pre-pandemic times).
The one-site technical interview was split into two parts, separated by lunch. First, you were given a test of 5 or so many small-to-medium problems and you could prepare your answers in a separate room, alone. You were given a PC (without internet connection) and ample time (3+ hours) to work through them.
This was followed by the actual interview with two senior members of the team. They went through your solutions and asked questions on how you would alter them if certain conditions of the exercise were no longer met or changed. A very friendly and fun experience even though you had to be careful and very precise to satisfy the interviewers' curiosity and expected skill level.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The questions themselves were rather simple algorithmically but the follow-up questions went deep into low level aspects of your proposed solutions (think along the lines of Game Engine Architecture chapter 3 level of detail).
Very nice people, interview went like you having a chat with a friend. Generally they are very proud of developing their products. Technical interview can be difficult, if you are a perfectionist and want to solve everything in time.

Question 1
You cannot talk about the questions, you have to sign an NDA.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Visual Concepts (Novato, CA) in Aug 2024
Interview
The recruiter was friendly, and the take-home task was straightforward. However, the interview process felt outdated and unnecessarily long, especially for such low pay, with a noticeable lack of diversity among the interviewers. Many red flags were raised—it feels like a dodged bullet.

Question 1
Fixing bug in shuffling code, shortest path algorithm, Bunnies question.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Visual Concepts (Novato, CA) in Mar 2023
Interview
Recruiter call, then take-home coding exercise, then hiring manager 1:1. I felt it was misleading, because I was asked to do a take-home coding project which I successfully completed and it was well-coded with the correct results, but then I was told the hiring manager did not want to talk. I don't believe this was based on my work but on another reason that was not disclosed to me. So I was asked to spend hours on a coding project that was probably not reviewed.
