      I interviewed at Vocera

      Interview

Overall, the process went smoothly, until my very last interview. The initial phone call and hiring manager interviews went well. As did the first three of four video interviews with staff at the company. I nearly ended the fourth interview based on the questions and attitude of that particular individual. During the hiring manager interview, a question was asked about command line interface knowledge for Linux. I was up-front and said I had little CLI Linux knowledge, but the hiring manager mentioned I could learn on the job and strongly recommended, which I did. I took off an entire half day to meet with the other four associates for video interviews. As I said, the firs three went rather well and it seemed like a good fit. The fourth 'technical interview' was a slap to the face. The associate interviewing literally hit me over the head with a CLI/Linux hammer and made me feel 'inferior' for not knowing specific CLI commands, prompts, etc. After all that, he started talking about non-job related hobbies, etc. All-in-all, we went 20 minutes past the scheduled end time, which made me feel as if the interviewer wasted my time even more. I ended up being the second in line for the position, but I am very happy I did not get a final offer, because that particular associate would have kept me from accepting the role at the company.
