After applying online, I was contacted via email that same day with a link to set up an interview. I set up a Teams call with the GM and the other ASM (this location had 2) which went very well, the GM even asked when I would be able to start should I be offered the job. The same day, after this interview, I was sent an email asking for a second interview with another GM in their district, and was sent a similar link to set up an interview. I completed the second interview two days later, also via Teams, which I also thought went well. Another two days after my second interview I received my rejection email.
I decided to ask for feedback, since I thought I killed both interviews and because the job market is tight. The email I received back was very generic and I was told, “ After careful consideration, we decided to move forward with an internal promotion whose leadership style and approach more closely aligns with the direction and culture of the team.” This really annoyed me; as an active job seeker, I’m on the hiring boards regularly, and the job I interviewed for is still actively up, almost 4 weeks after I applied, and 3 full weeks since my rejection email. I would much rather be told the real reason I wasn’t selected, instead of being actively lied to.
Glad I dodged the bullet of working for this company.
