First I had an initial phone screen with a recruiter going over the usual information; salary requirements, my background, the position, the company, etc. Then I was scheduled for a video interview with the hiring manager. This was about a 30 minute interview, and was fairly informal. He described it as a “getting to know each other” discussion. He went over the position briefly and asked me some questions about my background, but nothing too technical or difficult.
About a month later I was contacted about scheduling an on-site interview. This was a full day interview where I met with 7 - 8 different people, all individually. Again, these interviews were mostly informal and non-technical, for which I was relieved. One of the interviewers even took me to lunch.
After this long day, I still had one other video interview scheduled with another manager who was on the west coast and could not be present for my initial visit. This went just like the others.
It was after all of the interviews that thugs went down hill. I waited weeks without hearing anything. After 4 weeks, I contacted the Disney recruiter that had set up my interviews. At that point, he claims that he had not received any feedback and had no update for me.
After 8 weeks and still no update, I reached out again. This time I was informed that due to an internal reorganization, the position had been cancelled.
All of that for nothing. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in the whole process. 1) that after everything the hiring manager had told me about his group and the position, that it was all of a sudden cancelled, and 2) that no one bothered to reach out to me and inform me of this.
My observations: that people at Disney that I met with are great, and I would have been lucky to have been able to work with them. However their interview process is long, tedious, and their HR representatives do a terrible job at keeping you informed.
