Keep in mind that the following information took place around and after Thanksgiving with Christmas approaching: The second stage was a very general technical assessment; I received the link to this about a week after the initial interview and received results another week after that. The third stage was a Hackerrank.com tech assessment that had very little to do with the actual job that I applied for: it was entirely about SQL knowledge and queries, with which I am familiar, but not to the extent the assessment was testing, especially given I was working entirely from memory rather than looking anything up (my own mistake, perhaps, as all software engineers look things up daily). Nevertheless, the assessment caught me entirely off guard, as I had prepared to see an assessment that was more in-line with what this position required. I was told the hiring manager decided to send the Hackerrrank assessment to me rather than conduct a one-on-one interview because I had "aced" the first assessment.
