This was one of the top five worst interviews I've experienced in my career solely because the hiring manager (the head of design) doesn't appear to know a single thing about interviewing people. In the 30 minute phone screen (for a job that directly matches my experience) he asked a few very generic questions that wouldn't help him evaluate anyone for anything, didn't appear to listen to the answers and asked no follow up/clarification questions. I hung up saying, "I would never work for this man; he has no idea what he's doing."
It was so bad that for the first time in my career I considered reaching out to the recruiter to let them know that the hiring manager needed training asap or they were doomed to never fill the role. I even considered reaching out to the hiring manager to give them information on how to interview designers and managers as I have extensive experience in both. Anything at all to save others from his terrible interview skills.
