BEWARE OF THEIR RECRUITERS - I Originally applied for an Executive Assistant position that I was very
overqualified for, but this was a new industry for me, so I figured I’d give it a shot. Long story short, they tried to tack on a “Project Manager” title alongside the EA role, to entice me into accepting, with zero intention of me doing any of the Project Manager work that I had agreed to. Beware of their recruiters (who are just that - recruiters, and not considered part of HR.)
My entire interview process was extremely quick (less than 2 weeks, which should have been a first red flag.) I had 2 phone interviews, first with a
recruiter, then with my potential boss. “Boss” was late to the phone interview, which I would later find out was
extremely indicative of how he treats everyone, including clients.) My in person interview was with 3 separate people, none of which were part of the department I’d actually be working in. So none of them
could actually answer my questions about the rest of my
department and structure. After subsequently accepting this position (which was 1 of the worst decisions I’ve ever made) I then learned that they’d
interviewed so many people for my position, all of which my boss said “no” that I must have been their last resort to fill their hiring quota. Great hiring tactic, guys!
