- Inbound request for interview from recruiter
- Initial phone screening with recruiter
- Video conference screen with hiring manager a week later - conversation was unfocused and mainly focused on demoing current product and its deficiencies and only briefly touched on the role or the team
- Quickly moved onto the take home assignment to be completed within 5 days and submitted for review by hiring manager/team
- After submission of assignment was called back 4 days later with a verbal "not moving forward" and vague and unhelpful feedback were provided as reasons for passing
Overall a very unpleasant experience and waste of time. I do not recommend interviewing here unless you are prepared for a long drawn out process with limited structure.

Interview
I spoke with the recruiter and then met with the hiring manager the next day. I was then provided with a case study, which took me about 8 hours to complete. I was invited to a final, four-hour round of interviews with engineers and Product Managers. I received glowing feedback on my case study and felt positive about the overall experience.
In my discussions with the recruiter after the final round, he suggested he didn't have a verbal offer "just yet" and therefore led me on a bit. I then learned that the team wasn't convinced of a culture fit and seemed skeptical of whether I wanted to work for the company, so they wouldn't be extending an offer. The "Why Weedmaps" question came up on several occasions during my interview and I believe my answer was pretty solid. I was genuinely excited about working for them. I think the rejection reason provided was an excuse and they didn't have the courage to be transparent. Dodged a bullet.
