Wejo weblows!
I was contacted by a recruiter who sent over documentation on Wejo and the role. I explained that I had offers on the table and was assured Wejo wanted to move quickly. The recruiter scheduled a meeting with the hiring manager just a few days later on Monday.
The call with the hiring manager was great. Very informal. She explained that they'd be making a decision by the end of the week.
The next day, the recruiter called to schedule a call with a peer in another region. The call went very well and he explained he'd be recommending me.
One day later, the recruiter reached out to negotiate salary. I agreed to the terms the same day and was told to expect an offer letter within 24-48 hours. In a LinkedIn message, the hiring manager said she looked forward to having me on the team.
Soon after, I received a request for my passport as they wanted me to attend training in the UK within 10 days. I submitted my passport while waiting on offer letter.
In the meantime, I rejected a job offer based on the verbal agreements we had in place. The job wanted me to start the week before I was supposed to leave for UK and I didn't want to put them in that position.
Each day, the recruiter would email to tell me there was a delay due to this or that never suggesting it was an issue with me or the process. In fact, he assured me all was fine.
When it was 5 days out from the training date in UK, I received an email telling me the company would not be moving forward. He explained they offered no reason and it effected several of his other candidates.
Needless to say, this was unexpected and unacceptable. I reached out to both the hiring manager and the peer I interviewed with asking for an explanation so I could at least not lay awake at night wondering what happened. Neither responded.
