WestEd was originally on my wishlist of top places to work for. I believe in educational equity and have lived experience that fuels my passion for this field. The interview experience I had immediately changed my mind, though. Almost everyone on my R2 zoom interview was clearly distracted and evidently working on something else while conducting my interview. Needless to say, it was unprofessional to say the least and rude to say the most. I even considered exiting out of my interview at one point but refrained for the sake of professionalism. It’s a bummer because after reading up on WestEd’s mission and values I felt aligned and excited about the work they are doing, but the interview itself and the disorganized aspects of scheduling it to begin with left me disappointed. I acknowledge that this was one experience with this specific department, but it makes me wonder if this type of behavior exists in other parts of the organization. If so — just not for me. No thanks.
