I mentioned that I have always loved science, but growing up I thought the only direction that could take me would be to medical/dental school. After working in a research laboratory for 3 years in undergrad, I realized I enjoyed the curiosity associated with research science and changed my career direction. I went to graduate school to receive a Master's degree in Evolution and Ecology. Unexpectedly, I found that my most gratifying moments during those two years came from teaching my sections of Anatomy & Physiology Labs. I started looking around for teaching jobs, came across an opening as listed from BASIS.ed, perused the website and Facebook pages, and honestly thought it was too good to be true. I was really drawn to the fact that the schools harbor such an intense atmosphere of academic rigor, but do so by using people who are experts in their specific fields of study, rather than experts of education.
