I stated that I'm open to whatever the Dallas market compensates for my skill level. The Bay Area and Dallas markets aren't compatible, so I didn't think my current compensation mattered given it's already 2x the Dallas Market. It would just be a data point which usually scares away companies in Dallas as recruiters tend to fixate on the amount of current salary and lose perspective,resulting in a "couldn't see the forest for the trees" sort of scenario. Also in the State of California, it's illegal to ask candidates about their current salary, although I'm sure it's not illegal in Texas.
