      Full Stack Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Whatfix (Bengaluru) in Jul 2018

      Interview

I applied online and got a call to proceed with Hacker Earth round. 1 hour round which consisted of 10 java output/theory based questions and 3 coding questions. A few days later, I got a call for an in-person interview. First F2F : Java fundamental questions covering a wide variety of topics. 2 data structure and algorithm based questions. Interviewer was helpful and provided with enough examples for proper understanding of questions. I was asked to code one question with proper comments. Interviewer looked through the code and tested with sample cases. Second F2F: Once again round started with questions on java core concepts not limited to memory management, collections. Faced 3 algorithm based questions which had greater difficulty than the previous round. Proposed solution with higher complexity but with hints was able to solve all 3 eventually. Coded one question, interviewer asked to check for corner cases. Third F2F: Analysis of one algorithm based question and cricket-score application design. Wasn't required to code in this round :) Had an explorative discussion with the interviewer on current technologies used at Whatfix, various functionalities. Tried to understand my role, expectations and technological challenges ahead. Fourth F2F(Khadim Batti, Co-Founder): Discussions based on profile and projects mentioned in the resume. Got to know in detail about the company's culture, goals, and strategy to approach the same. Asked questions on success metrics and market positioning. Fifth F2F(Victor C., HR Head, Co-founder): The round started with a discussion on my projects. Asked to explain the most impactful project and the reasoning. What are my expectations from Whatfix, the role? How apt is my profile for the given role? Asked if it's possible to know encoding/encryption used by inspecting a file. This led to a discussion on encoding and encryption. His way of interviewing was very unique and intriguing, I was a bit nervous but he made me comfortable and took me out for a tea session. There we had a discussion on career aspirations, paths and plans to accomplish them. He encouraged me to ask questions, through this I was able to gain insights about the inception of the company and got guidance on career goals. I am thankful to Victor for a transparent and valuable discussion, which ran over 2 hours and provided me clarity about the introspection needed for the path ahead. *Overall it was a very positive and constructive experience.

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Whatfix (Mysore) in Jul 2019

      Interview

I got recruited through campus placement. Day one : A online test consisting of a coding question and few technical questions on C++,Java and OOPs Concepts, Time and space complexity, etc. Day two : Interviews were held for those who got shortlisted from the online test. I had 4 rounds of interview out of which the first two were technical, third and fourth rounds being directorial and HR respectively. Round 1 : Completely Technical skills based. Projects on your resume. Questions on Data Structures, OOPs, DBMS, SQL/NoSQL, etc. Round 2: It was more oriented towards checking your coding skills. 3 questions were asked whose solution had to be coded on a sheet of paper. Round 3: Majority of the questions were HR with a few technical questions in between, only on OOPs. Round 4: Purely HR. The coolest HRs I have ever met who were open to the discussions at length and encouraging me at every point. The overall interview process was very detail oriented. They ensure that they pick the right ones for the role. The team is enriched with great technical experience and maintained the uniformity on the questions asked, giving less chances to luck factor. Interviewers were very friendly and open to questions. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.

Round 1: Online screening test(Coding+Aptitude) -Duration-1hour -Language-JAVA -It consisted of 10 MCQs(based on JAVA+HTML) and 2 coding questions(fairly easy just required some logic) All the remaining rounds took place on the next day. The next 3 rounds were technical personal interviews via zoom. Round 2: Personal Interview Questions based on JAVA, OOPs, time and space complexity were asked. Need to be aware with the hierarchy of Java library and their time complexities in detail to clear this round. Round 3: Personal Interview Here my data structures and algorithms and my problem-solving skills were judged. The interview began with the hierarchy of map interface in Java and the time complexities. Then questions based on tree data structure were asked mainly AVL tree and red-black tree. Then 2 coding questions were given. First was Kadane's algorithm and the other was to check if the input number is palindromic or not. Round 3: Personal Interview In this round, 3 questions were given and I was asked to code them and tell time and space complexities. Fairly easy questions requiring a bit of logic and knowledge of Collections framework in Java. Round 4: HR Round(telephonic) This was the most fun round you can ever experience in your life. Just my future goals were asked. Just to see if I'm fit for the company.
