I applied online and got a call to proceed with Hacker Earth round.
1 hour round which consisted of 10 java output/theory based questions and 3 coding questions. A few days later, I got a call for an in-person interview.
First F2F :
Java fundamental questions covering a wide variety of topics.
2 data structure and algorithm based questions.
Interviewer was helpful and provided with enough examples for proper understanding of questions.
I was asked to code one question with proper comments. Interviewer looked through the code and tested with sample cases.
Second F2F:
Once again round started with questions on java core concepts not limited to memory management, collections.
Faced 3 algorithm based questions which had greater difficulty than the previous round. Proposed solution with higher complexity but with hints was able to solve all 3 eventually.
Coded one question, interviewer asked to check for corner cases.
Third F2F:
Analysis of one algorithm based question and cricket-score application design. Wasn't required to code in this round :)
Had an explorative discussion with the interviewer on current technologies used at Whatfix, various functionalities.
Tried to understand my role, expectations and technological challenges ahead.
Fourth F2F(Khadim Batti, Co-Founder):
Discussions based on profile and projects mentioned in the resume.
Got to know in detail about the company's culture, goals, and strategy to approach the same.
Asked questions on success metrics and market positioning.
Fifth F2F(Victor C., HR Head, Co-founder):
The round started with a discussion on my projects. Asked to explain the most impactful project and the reasoning.
What are my expectations from Whatfix, the role? How apt is my profile for the given role?
Asked if it's possible to know encoding/encryption used by inspecting a file. This led to a discussion on encoding and encryption.
His way of interviewing was very unique and intriguing, I was a bit nervous but he made me comfortable and took me out for a tea session. There we had a discussion on career aspirations, paths and plans to accomplish them.
He encouraged me to ask questions, through this I was able to gain insights about the inception of the company and got guidance on career goals.
I am thankful to Victor for a transparent and valuable discussion, which ran over 2 hours and provided me clarity about the introspection needed for the path ahead.
*Overall it was a very positive and constructive experience.
