I responded to a hiring event invite. It was advertised as a "interview on the spot" and "hire on the spot" event. They asked me to submit an application online ahead of time for priority interviewing and to save time. When I arrived at the store location, they said the QR code provided by email wasn't used. I was given another single sheet application to fill out with a list of interview questions. After waiting one hour (there were 70-80 candidates waiting in the store) the interviewer accepted my resume but did not read it. I was told they were only hiring for a couple part time positions and not for the jobs listed online. There were no usual interview questions, just which of these part time positions is most appealing to you and why? The whole discussion lasted approximately two minutes. My resume was only glanced at. I proactively gave the interviewer a high level summary of my background. They seemed disinterested. The interviewer stated that their only goal for the hiring event was to gather the applications and then follow-up later in the week for an interview.
