Well, if you had paid attention to the problem statement on slide one, this is not a manufacturing capability problem. This is a design interaction problem and why I had several slides explaining the root cause and the tolerance analysis behind it. To give a short answer the designer had incorrectly put a large specification range on feature that is critical to the assembly working correctly and therefore needed to be changed so that we are making the parts to the dimension we need. Having a high Cpk actually justifies making this change without risk of being able to make it with reasonable tolerances and not affect yield.
