There had been a lot of reorgs and changes in executive leadership in the last year and a half I was with the company. I wanted to leave and pursue other career options, and since the company had been doing extensive layoffs, I asked to be included in the next RIF. I saw it as an opportunity to get paid to quit, given the severance package and my vested stock options.
