An outside technical recruiter contacted me about this position and submitted me for consideration. I had reservations based on reading the company review and especially the salary information listed for this role here on Glassdoor, which was over $50k less than even the low end of my required salary range. I had to reconfirm with the tech recruiter to make sure they knew this going into the interview. The initial interview that was supposed to be an introductory conversation with the hiring manager, but it turned out to include another person and was recorded, which I immediately found to be off-putting for an initial conversation. When I mentioned that I hadn't been familiar with the company prior to the recruiter contacting me, the hiring manager very haughtily told me that that was surprising to her. She's been there all of six months, whereas I'd been working for a much larger tech firm based in Silicon Valley for the past decade, so not sure why she'd think I would have heard of them. We were supposed to have a phone interview, and then the day before the interview, that changed to a Zoom conference, which I was comfortable with since we used Zoom at my last company. However, she didn't seem to know how Zoom conferencing worked and appeared to be using someone else's account for the interview. We didn't use video or screen share or anything, so not sure why we didn't just go with a phone interview as originally planned. She seemed overly concerned about why I left my last position and seemed flustered by the amount of questions I asked. I do my due diligence before interviewing, and in this case, I had a lot of questions, since the role seemed very junior relative to my experience level and the aforementioned pay scale disparity. The other person on the call only asked one question and appeared to be chatting with someone else during part of the interview. Overall, I found the entire interview to be awkward, the hiring manager to be someone I wouldn't want to work for, and I left the interview with a negative impression of the hiring manager and the company. After the interview, I emailed the technical recruiter who submitted me and let her know that I wasn't interested in the position.
