      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Wintrust Financial (Rosemont, IL) in Oct 2021

      Interview

I wanted to give a positive rating, but the lack of communication and the way this whole process was dragged out made this negative. I applied online. A month later, I was contacted by a recruiter. I was told I would hear back about setting up an interview. A week later, I didn't hear back so I contacted the recruiter. He contacted the hiring manager and an interview was set up for two days later. I had a face-to-face interview that went very well. They were extremely happy with me and said I was a perfect match. It was obvious to me that they were very excited at the prospect of me joining the team. The way the interview went and the amount of positive feedback I got was amazing. I was so happy and so looking forward to working with this team. Word of warning: never get your hopes up about anything unless you actually get the job offer. As a business professional, I need to remind myself of this. But then I never had this type of experience before. I was told it would take a while to hear back. This took weeks, but I stayed in contact with the recruiter still expressing my interest and was getting a response back. Then I was no longer getting a response. Finally, I got an auto email saying that they decided to move forward with a different candidate. This was more than five weeks after my interview with them. (Needless to say, I did not stop interviewing or applying with other companies.) I was kind of devastated. Just the way that everything happened, I felt that I had been strung along. Then I get an impersonal email. Lesson learned.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What are your strengths and weaknesses? The interview was more of a discussion about my background.
