      Collections Specialist Interview

      Mar 3, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at WorkWave (New York, NY) in Jan 2023

      Interview

I want to be clear this review is not out of spite for not being offered the role. The initial phone screen was 1st round. 2nd round was with the manager of the department. 3rd round was split into 2 sessions one with the head of the department and another with a lead employee. Everyone was extremely nice and welcoming primarily in video web meetings. The more I read about the company via Glassdoor I saw reoccurring theme. Almost as if some of the peer reviews were crafted by people in HR to increase the image of the company. Some of them just seemed synthetic and repetitive using the same type of wording. I went through all three rounds and had a positive outlook. The consensus seemed to be "we are a laid-back company" The company culture is almost packaged as too good to be true. Reading deeper into reviews things started making sense. As a software-based company, many of the clients seemed to make note of subscription packages and stated Workwave was extremely tough to deal with. Even former employees stated Workwave's customer service is lacking. Another reoccurring theme seemed to be the finance department has too much leverage in terms of company policies and services. The Google reviews tear into Workwave for having outdated technology and a lack of regard for client retention. More and more I read I can see that marginal profit and acquiring new products was the most important characteristic of the role. Workwave has a lot of critics when it comes to this it seems. Yes, everyone was nice to me while discussing roles and learning about me. The company in my opinion seems to rely heavily on technical skills rather than focusing on adding a human touch to drive up client retention rates and lower dissatisfaction. Am I salty about getting rejected? Yeah, who wouldn't be? But, now I am thinking I dodged a bullet because if Workwave is relying heavily on technical skills then personality skills are the reason why they receive so many negative reviews.
