The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Workday (Dublin, Dublin) in May 2023
Interview
I request to ANY ENGINEERS to PLEASE AVOID this company for your own sanity, I am honestly saying that from personal experience of having wasted my time interviewing here. The process 1] Phone screening 2] 45 mins call with manager 3] Take home coding challenge where they ask you to build a PRODUCTION GRADE application in 9 days with styling, testing, statemanagement, error handling, popup, loading and much much more. 4] Pair to pair coding for 2 hours 5] Cultural fit call 6] Offer call The interview process is LONG LONG winded and the biggest problem is the take home exercise where they give you 9 days to build a production grade application. Not only is that crazy (because we all know that it takes a lot of time to build a production grade application with testing on frontend) its un-necessary to ask candidates to build a mini product just for the interview's sake. I was unfortunate to get carried over by this inspited of repeatedly reading so many negative comments here and I foolishly agreed. Not only did I implement everything as per requirements in 4 full days it was well tested and I build a lot more than what was asked. And after 3 days they shared a feedback which hardly matched my coding exercise. It was absolutely incorrect feedback, factually inaccurate and clearly looks like the junior team who had no idea what they are talking about. Not only was the feedback completely factually inaccurate they even said that I did not complete the requirements when I clearly did (I wouldn't have submitted it otherwise) and it clearly looked like they are stuck with old react patterns and stuck 4 years old way of doing things and had no idea about react-query, modern state management, modern error handling etc. All in all it was very disappointing that I wasted my time doing code exercise for a company whose team did not even understand the code and was clearly junior enough to review it and the feedback was a complete waste of time. It clearly felt like they were looking to reject rather than looking to hire filled with amateur team. The ONLY positive aspect was the HR who bothered to call and share the feedback on call and was willing to engage and force the team to give more feedback (they didn't give any meaningful feedback at all regarding the actual code itself but she tried and I appreciate her efforts). Honestly, if you are experienced developer who know your game in React, use modern stack in react and know good design patterns and have worked for good companies before then looks like Workday team was completely opposite of all this. On top of it the feedback was so bad/incorrect and the code challenge was so damm big that it makes no sense for the developers to go through it. There are just so many companies you can go through who would respect your time as a developer, have a practical interview/coding exercise process and if something goes wrong then they would atleast give you credible feedback using which you can improve and become a better engineer. With workday except disappointment you will not get much and I honestly mean it. DO NOT INTERVIEW HERE if you genuinely need a job.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Long takehome coding exercise to build a production grade application in 9 days with testing, error handling, popups, styling, statemanagement, scalable architecture and much more. Highly impractical for a interview.
