I was called by a recruiter fairly quickly after I applied and asked basic resume questions, then called by an HR rep and asked similar questions. I was invited in for a sit down with the exec I would be supporting. All three interviews went very well and I was under the impression that they were as excited about me as I was about them. I had no reason to suspect that they weren't going to hire me. A week later I was called by the recruiter and told that I was their top candidate. He asked me to do a sample Excel and PowerPoint assignment - from scratch and with essentially no instructions - to showcase my skills, and told that they would like for me to come in again to meet with more management. I don't have MS on my home computer so I had to spend hours at the library to get these assignments done. (Not an issue when you feel confident about the job). I turned the assignments in and asked when they would like for me to come in again. Silence. I waited a week and emailed the recruiter again. Nothing. I waited another week and emailed again and still nothing. I was completely ghosted. I had no choice but to focus on other jobs. About two weeks later I got a generic letter from a no-reply email saying that they took another applicant. Yeah, I gathered. I told a local recruiter friend about this experience and she said she wasn't surprised. She's recruited many unhappy people from Workfront into her company. I'm not surprised. If this is how they treat their "top candidate" in the interview process when we should both be charming each other, I can only imagine how I'd be treated once I was hired.
